Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed Lea Michelle’s book “Brunette Ambition” (now a New York Times best seller). I really liked it. There was a lot of info I could not use mind you; mostly regarding lipstick and make, up but generally it was a good read for anyone that needs a reminder that every detail in life counts.
I like to read successful peoples ideas about life. Mostly because they obviously have their shit together and seem to live on another planet than everyone else. Most people living the nine to five are so uninspired and live fearfully inside their own limiting box!
Her book reminded me that whether you live your life out on a stage or inside an office it’s all about the performance. Next Sunday I am planning to share my experience about a company I spent the last year with and believe me if they would stop appointing uninspiring people to run their business, the sky is the limit. In my twenty plus years in retail it has been rare to find inspiration unless is came from within myself.
I digress! Thanks Lea for the very cool little read. It’s a staple in my “how to continue to be fabulous while surrounded by jerks” literature!
As promised I have new book club choice. I did have a contest but since everyone was too lazy laying at the beach to give me any real ideas. I have decided to pick a classic that believe it or not I have not read ever before.
“To Kill a Mocking Bird” by Harper Lee
This great classic was first published in 1960. It was an instant best seller and went on to win the Pulitzer prize in 1961. Talk about rapid success. I would love to read his biography. Does he have one? Hmm, I will have to look into that.
The book became an Academy Award winning film! Of course! Imagine sitting down to write a little book and bam, all that happens! God I would love that. I have been writing this blog since 2010 and bam! I get my own hosting show! It could happen! And then I woke up!
“To Kill a Mocking Bird” has sold over 15 million copies and I’m sure that is an out dated calculation. I’m pretty excited to give this a go since it has been sitting on my shelf for some time.
A few things are certain in my life. I love great music. I don’t let anyone treat me like crap and I do love me a good book!
I am thinking of seriously getting a local book club going for September. Maybe a group of 6 to 8 people. Hmm I’ll give that some thought.
Hey maybe next time I have a contest you can play along. It does make this whole writing every week for the past four years a little bit more fun!
Plus I love giving away prizes! But you can’t win if you don’t play!
Enjoy the read!
