Everything’s Coming Up Ellen!

With my foot on the mend my pose and I got all dressed up and made reservations for a cozy fireplace mingle in the heart of the village at O’Grady’s pub for their annual Oscar party.

I attended last year and with red carpet in toe decided to head out into this Winter hell and celebrate along side some fabulous people to celebrate movie’s biggest night! The Oscars!!!!!

I promised my review and so here we are. The good the bad and the funny!!!  Again, I thought Ellen was wonderful! I almost crawled under the table however with her roast of the late Judy Garland’s eldest daughter Liza Minnelli. Calling her out as a man in disguise. Considering on the same night the Oscars were also celebrating Judy Garland’s 50th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz! Awkward! I thought Pink’s rendition of “Over the Rainbow” sucked!!! Two balls down for sure!

Still it was a special moment for me.  The Wizard of Oz was my go to movie as a child so even now not a year goes by that I don’t throw it in my Blu Ray. It was great to see the three kids all together and the industry should show these kids respect since they exhausted and used up there Mother to the point of drug exhaustion. Oh dear did I go there??

Ellen did keep the show rolling and her group instagram was obviously a hit and smart marketing!! “Look at us we are fabulous”!

I thought Mathew’s speech was terrible with no reference on the on going issues with H.I.V and Aids! When you win an award for such an important world issue what better forum then to quickly bring renewed attention to this health crisis.  I also thought he was cocky and shallow! All right! All right! All right! Oh please be quiet Mathew before they find out your stupid.

LOVED, Lupita’s speech!! Now that is how you do it Matt!!! She also looked stunning and I wish I was thin like her. Fabulous jaw line! Stunning! Thought it was funny Ellen made reference that if “12 Years a Slave” did not win that we were all racist. Good times.

Jared was hot hot hot!!!! Speech was great. I love him and I hate him. Made the best of a perfect moment to speak for equality and appeared humble. Matt, take some tips for your next win. All right, All right, All right!!! Aw.

Cate is just so cool and sexy chic!! I still love her in Aviator as Katharine Hepburn. She was perfect in that film. Good for her!!! Must get “Blue Jasmine” for my dvd collection!

Frozen!!!!???? Ah ya! Bring on the Spring though! Also another movie I want for my animation collection! I’m glad the academy decided to add animation to the list of awards a few years back. Animation is important!!!!

I thought Bette Midler was wonderful but someone needs to write her a new hit song! Did we ever lose a lot of fabulous people in 2013. I hated 2013!!! Bette was wonderful still and got a standing ovation, which she seemed very surprised to have received. She would be a very cool Mom! No? Can you imagine? “Hey Mom I’m a raging Homo Drag Queen!” Bette- “That’s ok dear, I got my big break in the bathhouses in New York City and I wear a mermaid tale to hustle my music!” Kisses!

The awards were too damn long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok got that out of my system. I didn’t hear any of that annoying cut off music though, or was I to drunk by then?

I’m glad Sandra Bullock never won the Oscar. I love her but come on seriously! I didn’t get all the excitement about that movie. Didn’t we already do “Lost in Space”? I just didn’t get it. Love you Sandra!

Ok so enough blah blah about the Oscars. O’Grady’s held a really lovely Gala. Although they really needed to turn up the sound system. The whole point is getting to see and hear the awards!!! The night is not just about how fabulous you look in a dress! Although you all looked outstanding!  Nothing says Oscar night like a boy in a dress!

Thanks for joining me and thanks for your good energy you have sent out to help my foot get better!!!! I have to say, I did have a super cool cane! Very sexy disabled!

About Bruce in the City

I have been writing my blog since 2010. I was inspired to do so after enjoying an amazing meal with some friends of mine here in Toronto. I decided to tell everyone about my great night and the fabulous restaurant I went to and shazam my blog was born!
