OMG! My second last blog for 2016! I actually can’t believe another year has flown by. It’s ridiculous. The year went too fast. I’m going to have to reread my own blog to remember everything I did.
Drum roll please! Who is going to get my last shout out for 2016? I visit so many shops, pubs, bathhouses? No, I’m kidding, but it is amazing the shops I stop by throughout the year. Not everyone makes it onto my blog. Mostly because they just didn’t impress and I just can’t find it in my heart to crap on every business that didn’t cut it. Oh, who am kidding?
To decide who was going to get my last shout out for 2016 I wanted it to be a place that I could really sink my teeth into. It had to be something I am really into. Something that really gets my mouth watering. Something that says life is good and home sweet home isn’t a far off memory. It also needed to be something I haven’t really covered much on my blog. Something fresh and comforting.
Good enough build up for you? My last shout out of 2016 goes to Cobs Bakery Danforth. Yum and Yum! I love fresh breads and pastries. When I happened upon this very cute bakery I just knew I was going to have to share it with you. I’m not always one to be all over the corporate shops but this little shop does some good that interested me.
We are often curious as to what happens to all those baked goods when the day is done and we hear so much about places that just toss good food in the dumpster at days end. This bakery has decided not to sell day old baked goods. I get it. Fresh is the best! However, when I asked them what they do with what’s left I was really happy with what I learned.
They donate all their day olds to charity . Not just one charity but 7 different charities in the Toronto area. I love that! When I hear about places that toss their unused food in the dumpster in the back I want to spit nails. There are so many homeless people in Toronto. I see them all the time and it’s awesome to know there are people who give a crap and not just people, but businesses.
These bakeries by the way are franchised so local families and neighbours own and operate these shops. I like that too. I’ve been in a few times and every time I stop by everyone is in a wonderful mood and are really into it.
They bake everything right on site and you can see what is going on because of the open concept. It smells so good! Their buns impress! I will be seeing them on a regular basis and if you are in the area I totally encourage you to stop by. They have so many warm wonderful baked goods. I have only scratched the surface.
You know if you’re going to do carbs, then for goodness sake, do it right! This solid bakery gets 5 kisses out of 5 from this B.I.T.C! And the cutie behind the counter gets 1 just for being so darn helpful!
In the spirit of the season don’t forget to give back when you can. Donate to your local charities and remember it only takes one to make a difference in another!

A note from the editor: I LOVE baked goods but right now I am seeing a trainer to get off 10 pounds that has been haunting me for the past 18 months so I am trying to behave. We’ll see how well that lasts over Christmas! ME
