Kir-Yianni Akakies Xinomavro Rosé 2016 – LCBO $12.95
This rosé is made from the xinomavro grape, which are a Greek grape and aren’t normally seen as a single variety in a rosé. This rosé is probably one of the most interesting rosé wines I have ever had. On the nose it has aromas of raspberry, cherry, a little spice
, and a kind of melon note. The palette was very similar to the nose and has zesty acidity with just a touch of tannin to balance it out. The wine is dry not at all sweet and you could pair it nicely with grilled pork or a nice citrus salad.
I still can’t believe it’s only 12.95!
